Shirt!
The fair. I met up with my OBSfriends in the morning and we had breakfast at the TM Mac's. Then after they left to go cycling at Ubin, I went to render my assistance to Allen and his class. Okay kachiau la whatever. It was rather deserted in the morning. Things got a little better later.
Their adventure race stand with five participating teams. A bit pathetic but at least the spirit was there.
Mr. [Eggs = What Chickens Do When They Menstruate]'s Bleach anime pencilbox. I'd want it if I were a Bleach fan.
Shirts! Aha. Adventure race participants all got a sponsored shirt, and the extras were meant for volunteers. I did ask how I could get one, but there was supposed to be not enough, and anyway I had to run off shortly after for tuition so it wouldn't be very nice.
What Chickens Do When They Menstruate. The Ramly Burger stand.
Cookie! Somebody's auntie baked them a day or two ago. All were irregularly shaped.
Ramly Burger Contents. I asked the auntie nicely if I could take a photo of the ingredients frying after placing my order. She said sure, but not to photograph her.
Sound Waves. Somehow the loud noise managed to distort the camera image. I think it must have made the CCD throb or something. It's not very visible though.
Busybody. Later when I came back at five after a long hard mug session, I was visiting the cookie stand with Lye near one of the entrances when this grey messy-haired uncle with a young boy in tow started telling the stall manners that they had good intentions but were doing something useless because the companies sponsoring them were just profiting from them and what they should have done was to approach big US companies because Bill Gates gives away a ton of money, and he knows because he's been in the US before to do his Ph.D. Then he demanded to know which of all of us standing around behind the booth were Christian, and that the end of days was coming and we were all sinful, so we should go convert so that we'd be in heaven with the angels, else we'd burn with satan blabla. Everyone had it up to the gills already and this plump Indian girl from Lye's class was looking quite pissed.
Haha, I'd been enthusiastically nodding and then at this point I asked him if he wanted a cookie. Chocolate chip? Then he said no, we were trying our best but he won't help this because it won't work. (Bullshitter.) Lye was saying "OKAY, THANKS, BYEBYE!" very pointedly, but that guy wouldn't take the hint, and his poor young son was standing behind looking very embarrassed. When he was done with his mini lecture and started to walk away I asked again if he really wouldn't like a nice soft freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie. Honestly, I foresee a nasty end for someone who goes around condemning everyone. Dig out his eyeballs la. With a hot. blunt. spoon. He's just the Christian equivalent of a radical. If the great Ms. Boon were around, I'd bet that she'd stab him with a stiletto heel or something.
Oh, this namecard was when he walked to another stall in the actual fair area and lectured somebody there again, but not for too long as he saw us walking there.
Students delighting a little kid. I think this was the best photo of the lot, and impromptu too.
After the uncle episode, I took over the drinks stand. It took a minute or two to get over being ignored by most of the customers, then it was all business. Buy an icy cold drink for charity only one dollar, all flavours! I tried a bit of Chinese too but it was kind of embarrassing. One grandmother hobbling along smiled and said no, and I told her "tian qi re, he lu cha (greentea!) dui shen ti liang de!" Haha. And there was also: Would you like a refreshing drink to go with that Shihlin fried chicken you're eating? I drew the line at telling Malay passers-by to buy a kool drink and relac one korner.
Hey I even told my customers that I could offer them the colder drinks inside the main box of ice just for them. Haha. And would you like a straw to go with that? No plastic bag sorry, but I can wrap up the can in a Volunteer leaflet for you. (The auntie laughed and said no need)
After helping to pack up at seven, I was issued a crate of extra NeWater. And a cookie.
And the best part was that I got a shirt!
(I know I sound like I'd sell my soul for a shirt. Well, no I wouldn't.)
(P.S. Not unless it was The FF7 Cloud Shirt. Hurhur)
