Good Old Chinese

Sigh/Yay!

Chinese was over today!

The essay I chose was the typical newspaper report discussion one about Plastic Surgery. I don't think I did too bad a job on that, considering that I remember reading what the Straits Times said about it.

The main paper was easier than usual. I managed to fill up one of the five word blanks correctly! Yay. Haha. But the fill-in-the-blanks-in-the-passage was so-so and the compre was eyerk.

Both were doable. The passage with a bit of luck and skill and the compre with plain copying. But the compre topic!

I wonder who set it. The whole thing was about: Be nice to others and the world will be wonderful... If you see someone who has lost his/her niceness by prejudice or anger, be nice to him/her and guide them back on the right path...

So Maoist. Why is most Chinese writing all good and moralistic and saccharine? Do Chinese teachers bleed sugar or something?

Still, it makes it easy to score higher in essays. Just slap on the good moral values and gush all over them. And compre is copycopycopy. I'd better not complain. Later I'll have to retake next year with the new syllabus and then I'll be sorry.

Post-Update Insert: Wah. It's a nasty feeling having to fire somebody. Ergh.
