Is It For Real?
This is only one of the many photos I took today, correction yesterday.
Today, I got a new dvd-recorder which can play DivX or .avi files, meaning I can watch anime episodes on tv. Hehe. Actually it was because my brother refused to go for the wedding dinner because he wanted to watch tv and we didn't have a recorder. And so I cashed in on that.
My cousin got married today - the one who was pissed with me. She seemed to be in a relatively good mood today. I went to her house in the late morning to see the tea ceremony. But then I saw this 60cm by 45cm by 45cm glass fish-tank my auntie threw outside her house and she told me I could have it, so an uncle helped me truck it back to my house. But I was all about to scrub it when I realised that the glass on the sides was crumbling away into sharp little shards and the auntie obviously hadn't noticed. Sigh. So I carted it to the dump. Then my mum called to say that the ceremony was over but the food was still there so would I please hurry up and get back there, and I biked there on a rusty old contraption. It's quite fun biking to places actually. I've never done it much before.
So anyway, I was observing while eating. The groom was talking about some boring old business stuff with friends outside the door while the bride was inside plastered with purple eyeshadow. Eyerk. Aren't females supposed to look good on their wedding day?
I was wondering if they really really loved each other, or was it just a matter of, I'm forty-plus, you're forty-plus, we're both have relatively good incomes and we find each other pleasant, so let's hook up to get the in-laws off our backs. Like the Singapore-Malaysia marriage of convenience.
Is marriage just a mundane matter of regimental routine in their lives? Shouldn't it be a break in the routine for something you're really passionate about?
I'll post stuff about the *yum-yum slurp* dinner next time.
