Well, PeeEmLee's visit wasn't too spectacular for me as I only got to watch him from within the Lecture Theatre. He was flapping his arms on screen once in a while. Think his armpits were itchy or something. There was a minor commotion in the LT when he said that Arrjay was "one of the top JCs" in Singapore. All you egotistic elitist students.
I was gloompy/glumpy the whole day because I went to register as a potential bone-marrow donor after calling my dad to ask him, but when I told my mum, she was furious. To avoid further upset, I emailed the BMPD to request a withdrawal from the program, hopefully before they spend the $150 for the sample testing. Imagine how many keychains they have to sell to raise that much.
I feel crummy because I don't know whether it was really wanting to avoid conflict or apprehension of the procedure that made me request a withdrawal from the program. Should I have insisted on being a registered donor? Being in the position we're in, it feels utterly hypocritical to not go all out to support something like this. Maybe it's dumb to worry about this when the chance of being a match is 1 in 20 000 but there's always Murphy's Law in operation. I don't want to not try to save someone. I don't want to cause a conflict at this time. I don't want to waste the organization's money and I don't want to live like a coward. I don't want to make such a decision.
