Swiftyness

I finally found out who the quote given to us for the GP Common Test: "We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another" belonged to. It's Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver's Travels. Knew I'd seen it somewhere before. =)

Spent the whole afternoon today attempting to speed up my computer by clearing off unnecessary stuff and doing all the defragmentation and so on. I found this really good system registry defragmenter program that scans for free. However, you need to pay for the full version to clean up stuff, so I tried to be smart and look for a crack so I didn't have to pay for it (hey sometimes it pays off what), and managed to get a few nasty trojan viruses and spyware on my computer, so I had to hunt them down and google the fixes and wasted a whole lot of time poking through logs and running various programs and poking through cryptic file names in the recesses of the system. Sheesh. All seems to be better now I hope. Fingerscrossed.

I wish I knew how to format and install a full backup properly but I don't dare try because this is my only computer and I'm royally screwed if I wreck it for lack of practice. I have rusty-fingers, the evil computer-equivalent twin of green-fingers. If only I had a neat little laptop that I could carry off to look for help when this sort of things happen. =(
