Hawaiian Pizza For Lunch
Free dental checks at TM to promote toothpaste to potential buyers:
Trishaws at Bugis.
Water spray from the Bugis Fountain. See the drops soar, only to fall before they touch the clouds.
Having a bit of splashing good fun at the Bugis fountain.
SuperBand doing some roadshow at Bugis. I have no idea what they do.
Saga seeds from a Saga tree beside Queensway Shopping Centre. The teachers showed us some in a bottle in primary school but I've never seen the real thing growing. Till now.
Outing was fun. We had lunch at Pastamania and talked (gossiped, really, but that sounds auntie-ish) for an hour or so. Went to look at Bugis Street while drinking bubble tea and walk past the sleazy shop there. I think it relocated to the ground floor. A real pity that Kev still had exams. He would have loved it ^^
After that, we walked over to Sim Lim Square to look at gadgets.
One shop uncle was rather upset with me, because he asked about what LCD screen dimensions I was looking for when we browsed the items, and I asked him what show he was displaying.
The others had to go off after we got to the fourth floor of Sim Lim, so I went to look at the dvd shop. Then I went to the top floor to look at the blank dvd shop. There was a friendly auntie around whom I talked to about graphics cards, but she wasn't that knowledgeable. I think lumpy's more helpful for that.
After that, I went on a Great Jacket Hunt, because the thing I bought looks more like a SWAT vest, so I headed to Queensway which keng told me was Shoe Heaven and I figured that there would be sports shops there too. That place is terribly messy. I walked around one floor three times before realising it. No luck. I went to check some outdoor item shops in the City Hall area on the way back just in case but no luck too.
Actually, the Sportslink shop at Northpoint sold something really really similar, but: 1: It looked like the seams at the arms might tear after several washes. 2: MJ said it looked girly which I wouldn't have really minded actually because I would have removed the sleeves (and there's nothing to be insecure about so hah!) except for 3: It was branded with a Denmark brand and cost $79 dollars. The sales person told me about these clothes being made in Denmark and I asked him why the label said Made In India, and he said it was just that particular design. I may be a bit spendthrift but I'm not crazy and I'm not about to buy something of suspicious quality that costs e-i-g-h-t-y bucks and proceed to tear the sleeves off! -_-"
Okay, so there was this moment where I tried to borrow sixty from MJ or Tamaleh but they flatly refused. But hey. Haha.
Hmm I know this whole jacket hunting sounds a bit rabid and all but it's just a latest hobby, and I don't like to do things by halves except for homework. I like having something to work towards, and in the past it was ummmmm lets see:
In roughly chronological order:
Enid Blyton books
Bugs - reading about them, keeping them, really lousy photography of them, attempted sale of pet woodlice to classmate for a minimal fee of $0.50 cents per seven lice in a cup of soil (but I never did hand over the goods after pocketing the money and the girl kept reminding me about her woodlice)
A ton of small pets starting with pet fish - I bred cheap guppies and fighting fish
Pet flatworms dredged up from the primary school pond that fed on worm blood
Pet tadpoles - I got one to morph into a baby toad =)
Pet spiders - I kept a whole lot in a large 1.5 litre bottle.
Sneaking into the school eco-garden (which was a strip of grass with messy plants and a eutrophic nasty smelling pond actually) and koping lemon grass, pandan and bryophyllum plants to grow at home (the bryophyllum died several years back)
Pet snails - the big ones that crawl around after rain - I fed them cabbage and they laid yellow eggs that hatched into tiny translucent snail babies.
Collecting stamps, banknotes XP, shells (Still have them stashed away)
Fishing - sigh, don't get to go now - My non-blood-related uncle sold off his floating fish farm and I can't go there any more even if my dad was well enough to. Pity, there were groupers there and once, Maori wrasse. I collected mussels growing on the sides of the structure and scraped the barnacles and slime off them too so that they looked like the ones sold at the supermarket.
Crab catching - mostly swimming crabs
GameBoy Colour - played it all the way through PSLE. The screen's scratched now.
A couple of early computer games. There was a really awful one where you pilot a spaceship and it can flip any which way. I felt nauseous. Hated that one. Rayman was fun, and this one with funky music called Jazz The Jackrabbit.
Pokemon - I was slow to catch on like with a lot of things
Marine fish, corals - I blew a lot of cash on this one - Not much now, if any.
Photography - I got my first digicam!
Anime - the math genius who moved to Aussie taught me bittorrent and it was a downhill slope from there. I try to get complete collections of all episodes of the shows that I like. Bit perfectionist there. I got some posters too and a cheap Naruto headband (but I'm not stupid enough to wear it)
Essay writing - for leisure. I typed them out and printed them and then stashed them away never to be seen by the world. I think my soft copies died with a com crash. Either narrative or descriptive usually.
Sport climbing with bouldering - I'll never be anywhere near the level of my ex-cca people now though, because their training is really dedicated and they get all the cool tips from their coaches and seniors and I just fool around at climbing centres with Tamaleh while discussing where to eat.
Chess - I think it's great for improving strategic planning and sneakiness but I'll never be good at it because I'm not dedicated and focused enough.
DotA - Okay the graphics and the whole strategy thing wowed me. However, the only way to stay on top of the game is to know the game inside-out so that you can plan and counter the enemy. It's just a big psychology match and most of the time, you're playing with sore losers who are all ahbeng teenagers with overbloated egos who rant at each other. Good players keep their mouths shut and pull off really nice strategic teamwork moves. Above-average players scold lousier ones and lousier ones scold beginners and the lousiest ones just try to force opinions on others and then set up beginners so that they get a big ego trip from whacking someone who hasn't the faintest how to play, like: "Eh! We 1versus1 and you must use this character and I teach you how to play! Oh, I just beat you really badly! Oh yay I'm the greatest and now I'll proceed to tell you why!" (No names or classmates mentioned.)
That was a long eulogy for the lost enjoyment I had for the game which I honestly enjoyed but got bored of.
MapleStory - brainless and monotonous moneysucking game for kiddies. Tjkorkor is now level 129 when people usually give up around level 30. I liked it for a while though.
That's about it, I guess, and this has been a really long and narcissistic entry and I'm sorry to have been rambling on so long.
I'll never go to the extent of attempting to do an actual cosplay (because it'd really look quite stupid) but would sure be nice to find the jacket one day. I suppose that this too, shall pass.
