Pre-Nat-Day Celebrations
Naruto Gashapon(plastic egg collectible) figurines for Lumpy's surprise birthday present. If he happens to come here and see it and ruin his own surprise, not my problem.
Classmates playing some weird card game.
Tamaleh and I made our way to Changi beach. Picked up the worms from the fishing supplies shop along the way.
The beach walkway. A charming sylvan atmosphere. Actually we decided to fish here, but realised that the area was swamped with thick Ulva seaweed patches and every cast dredged up some weed, so we tried shifting. I was quite afraid of tamaleh throwing the rod into the sea when I was teaching him how to cast.
We walked for twenty minutes to get to the part of the beach outside the airport landing strip area. All the planes would fly down towards us, making a dreadful racket, but giving amazingly close-up views. My dad used to bring me here when I was much younger. Like that time, there were no fish today, and slightly less, but still a disgusting lot of seaweed.
I played a round of chess with tamaleh after tying the rods to the convenient railings. I won. Later, there was an uncle far to the right that dragged up a bushful of seaweed, inspiring us to have a seaweed catching competition. Tamaleh won.
I really liked this one. No photoshopping at all. Some real lensflare for once! I know people get expensive lens hoods and high quality lenses to get rid of lensflare but a bit of it is the icing on the cake.
Beautiful shimmering.
The carpark. Think it's Carpark Four. This place is simply tranquil when the planes aren't within audial range. Really peaceful and the sky seems so close to the land.
A nice cliche of a setting sun, and some kind of hawk-like bird silhouetted in the sky.
I decided to take photos of the remaining bait. An uncle leaving the area gave us the rest of the live prawns he'd been using. I ripped some apart rather cruelly for the fresh flesh to bait the hook with, in the hopes of getting something, but no luck. The two survivors were thrown into the sea with best wishes.
The local ragworms we were using as bait. They have to be squeezed carefully out of their tubes. It's not clear here, but they have little black fang-like mouthparts that they use to bite whoever's handling them.
The pedestrian bridge across the Changi River. It's been here since the first time I ever visited this place. People used to dive from it before they started reclaiming a long time ago. Try that now and you'll end up with a head mashed in muddy rocks.
Ahh, another favorite photo of mine. I left it untouched because it seemed to look best just like this.
Puffy cotton-wool clouds.
I changed my mind about going by myself because I needed a tamaleh to carry the things for me haha.
Next time I'll go Bedok Jetty and jig for white tamban fish. It's almost guaranteed that there'll be some. While they're small, they put up a decent struggle.
I had a Word With Allen and found out that he let the previously mentioned person use his MSN account to talk to me, pretending to be Allen, because Al was visiting and logged in. He had no idea that that-person was talking to me pretending to be him though. I don't remember if I accidentally told that-person about this site, thinking that he was Allen.
He knows who he is, and if he's reading this, I have this to say. Do remember that even if I unwittingly told you about this site thinking you were someone else, it was never meant for you to know about. I think that it was a sneaky and contemptible thing to do and there is probably no way of preventing you from reading but you are not welcome here.
That's over and done with. Happy national day everyone.
