Double Bubble, Toil and Trouble
I decided yesterday that I should get around to cleaning my fish tank because I haven't been able to see through the glass for about a year already. And also the water was getting kind of scummy because the last time I changed part of the water was uhmm, uhmm, ah yes! Eight months ago. Oh well. So I had to spend a good twenty minutes hunting around for the salinity meter and another twenty minutes looking for the powerhead pumps.
Rinsed out a spare tank and filled it half-way with water, plugging in the pumps. Actually I wanted to set up some filtration system thing inside with the green slats to get the salt better mixed but decided it was a bad idea. No matter, I left them in there for the turbulence. Then it was time to mix the salt in. I found the marine salt in an ice cream tub. Oh dear, the box with the rough guide to how much salt to be used was thrown away about a year and a half ago. Never mind, dump all the salt in! The water turned cloudy and there was quite a lot of undissolved thingies for at least an hour. Ionic Product > Ksp?
So I left it to mix for a day and here you have a nice clear solution already! Just like SPA. Wait, the word is Homogenize Mixture.
Well, just for kicks, I took a photo of the tank interior. See the filth. Oh, one of the two fish in there is in the top left corner, waiting for food. Isn't it cute?
The solution needs to mix for at least a day because the salt takes forever to dissolve properly and undissolved pieces of carbonates or whatever scorch the corals and things when they land on them. I was planning to clean it today but woke up late and had to go for Math, so I'll do it tomorrow. Not looking forward to it.
The whole world knows about Steve Irwin's death by now. Stung by a stingray in the chest possibly leading to heart failure. Well, I feel sorry for his son and daughter but I don't really feel sorry for him actually. His line of work was dangerous and he always did try to play down the risk a bit too much in my opinion. I think he had it coming lah. Only that it was such an unglam way to die. Is it too callous to wonder what kind of stingray killed him? I saw a baby one before, just like a little grey mug coaster. So cute.
Oh, I was passing by Comics Connection and watched a bit of an anime they were screening, Mai Hime. Actually it's supposed to be of the mahou shoujo genre ("Magical Girl") like Cardcaptor Sakura but the fight scenes seem better than Bleach which stupid tjkorkor seems to like. Downloading it now, hope to watch it after exams or something.

yeah, i totally agree with you on Steve Irwin. his crocodile shows were never that popular, (with the teenage crowd anyway) and i cant stand how some people are gushing over his death when they'd never watched a single of his shows.
i didnt like his khaki shirts (too tight) with the Really Really Obvious armpit sweat stains.
stingrays are cute! they have faces like this :)
literally!
