Undead Fish
Two of the freshwater fish that I bought died today. I think they weren't eating too well. I never named them. I put the dead bodies in a plant pot to rot. Maybe Kenny will eat them.
I was doing regular maintenance on the saltwater tank after I woke up. There was a feeling that something wasn't quite right but I couldn't pinpoint it. Then I realised that the clownfish was missing. Looked around and found it on the floor in a very OMG moment. I was pretty damn sad because I'd gotten quite attached to it. Stared at it for a while because it looked quite dead. Then I picked it up and was about to dump it when it twitched. Another OMG moment.
Dropped it in a bit of tapwater because I was thinking the much less negative water potential could only help to rehydrate it (see bio's useful okay!) and watched it gasp for a while. After half a minute, I dropped it back into the tank. It lay at the bottom and just gasped for a while. Then it started swimming a bit, but not very well, fins and slime coating all tatty and eyes looking bloodshot.
I would have left it alone then but for the dratted purple dottyback who was taking this chance to pick on it and bit it a couple of times. So I had to rig up a cage for it to recover in because it was in no condition to fight back. In the meantime, I employed my sister to sit there and chase the purple fish away whenever it came to bite the poor clownfish.
I think it'll live. Cleaned up the other tank because dead fish foul up the water. Took some photos of the survivors.
