A to Z, Twenty Six Letters That Say Everything

Last year, when I saw my name on a flag day signup-sheet, I thought it was a prank. It took several phonecalls to convince me not to blanko it off.

Well, so we, we being my current classmate gang, collected tins from this stand outside Chinatown MRT station last Saturday morning and went off to Orchard Road to further abrade the poor impression that students give to foreign tourists. Flag day was pretty standard, with some people walking straight past and some coming up to donate. One amusing fellow said: "I'll donate so long as this is not for NKF". Lmao :) The interesting stuff was what happened beside the area we staked out though.

There were some people shooting some comedy gag thingy beside our spot. This person wearing big green fake hands hid in a cardboard box labeled "DANGER" and jumped out to boo passers-by. I think the cameras right beside were kind of a giveaway though. Only one girl screamed. They gave up on that and switched to getting this angmoh fellow to carry around a plastic doll above and walk around caressing and talking to it. So, I set aside my can (actually I ordered tamaleh to guard it) and took out my cam.

Not very sneaky but better than below:

Ooh. Discreet.

Later on, after our egos had taken sufficient bashings, we put the cans in our bags and went off to have lunch. A new kind of fish in Wisma Atria's tank.

My classmate told my chinese teacher that I didn't go for lessons because I didn't feel like going and also that I told him, if I don't go for any further lessons, she'll never get the chance to scold me. I saw her today and she said she would call police the next time I skipped Chinese class. It was very funny actually. Lolol. I said I would definitely go. :)

To my ex-TJ classmates, you might like to know that our ex-classmate Jia Ling is now Marissa Boon. OMFGwtf LOLOLOL. I'm dead.

Oh, lets take a look at my list.

Hmm class bonding. Well, last week, we had this class bonding activity where we each stood up to say what we liked and what we disliked about our class. Quite the bitch-fest. You know, I think it actually went quite well, because everyone had their little peeves with the class but it's not like they would just stand up for no reason and say what they wanted without the pretext of some stimulus. An mass emotional catharsis if you will, or Alcoholics Anonymous group therapy. I crapped, but it was more fun seeing what other people said, and I'm quite arrogant to say it was my idea. Lol. Anyway, it was nicely organized by Jloh if he's reading this. We played this pictionary thingy after that.

A few days later we decided to play basketball and at least half the class joined in voluntarily so some long pent-up class spirit seems to be seeping out at last.

Dota.

Well this was actually an event organised for one house for their house-event. I crashed it of course. I got to play a bit here and a bit there later on but didn't really manage a nice whole game. It was messy because anyone who properly signed up was called to play even though it was restricted to members of that house only. The teacher-in-charge was playing DotA too. O.o

Camera.

I decided that it's not worth having a slightly lighter bag and forgoing many many photo opportunities. I partly gave up carrying the camera around because everything seemed so routine after a while. But being without it made me regret it at least a few times because it's when I don't have the camera that I bother to look at the potential in stuff. Hmm.

I picked up a H.P. Lovecraft book from the library last week to flip through. The writing style is interesting but the theme is uniformly gory and dark stuff. Hmm. Gory and dark leads me on to another topic.

A few lessons back, my GP tutor showed us this French video about the Holocaust. How the Jews were brought into the gas chambers made to look like mass showers. Naked, stripped of their clothing, hope and dignity. The cloth woven of human hair from the dead. Artwork on parchment of dried skin. Decapitated bodies that were set aside for attempts to transform them into soap, with the blank faces piled up in a corner. The mountains of spectacles and other goods stripped from the dead, for potential Nazi war supplies. Evil. The French commentary was peppered with black humor and conveyed a bitter sense of incredulity and part-disgust. Perfect.

I think I would have been shaking if I hadn't already seen some of that sort of horrific stuff in movies like the Pianist and anime. As it is, I was a bit quiet for a while after the movie.

Dota seems to be helping me communicate more with ex-classmates. I joined a new CCA, Gavel Club, in which I listened to someone speak grandly of his cute fluffy pet rabbit for three minutes. My class might even have a potential LAN/movie (Memoirs of a Geisha?) next Friday when school ends early. So long as they don't vaporize halfway. Life seems good. Now all that I need is for my dad to have a successful BMT after he goes back to hospital in two days. And no, not basic military training.

Positive thought.
