Ode to My Pencilbox

Dearest Pencilbox,

Forgive me. My negligence has led to your regrettable loss on the bus. I was thrown completely off-kilter when I realized that the bus was at my bus stop, and as such, forgot to zip you securely into my bag. And me being the always two-second behind in time lowly mortal that I am, I only realized that I felt something drop after I had gotten off the bus. The bus had hesitated, as if someone had noticed your holy presence and alerted the bus-driver, but only when I stared at the bus' back leaving did I realize that you were gone, perhaps for ever. I curse the mean-spirited fellow passengers adjacent to the bus door where you were dropped that did not even spare the effort to yell at me or chuck you out the bus, although indignifiedly so, at my feet. May you safely journey into the good hands of the Bus Transport Centre where I immediately made a report, and I hope you evade all those thieving aunties who would sneak you into their hungry handbags and bring you home for some peskiferous three-year-old to rip apart, you the trusty case whom stood by me in my recent times of failure (F O O D). I await your return in unrestrained grief.
