In A Flighty Mood
This sparrow was one of a few in a classroom we were going to play inter-house chess in. They had gotten in somehow, through the open slits in the glass windows. However, as some windows were shut and the doors were closed, they tried to fly straight out of the classroom when we went in. Through the glass panels which they couldn't see. Yeowch. It's painful to see sparrows ramming head-first into glass panels then sliding to the floor, only to try again.
We closed the doors at first, wanting to take a closer look at the sparrows. Then we opened them and three or four out of the five or six flew out of the doors. One took longer to find that the door was open, and the last one continued in it's stupidity, flying into the unopenable glass pane until it fell into a corner, exhausted. I picked it up and placed it on a table and ... took photos. Then it suddenly jumped up and flew onto the shelf-thing above the door, and then at the partially opened glass window, which tamaleh pushed open a bit further, and it finally flew in a big arc down into the carpark, rather jerkily. It managed to get to a large grass patch, so it should be fine unless the RI cat comes sneakily along.
Inter-house Chess was quite fun, even though only, ten? eleven? people turned up. My house had to rely on me and hongkonger. lol. I won three out of six games, one against hongkonger which was a bit pointless. He drew two. At least we weren't last, lol. Tamaleh beat someone whom he'd never ever beaten before. He's getting sneakier. And Mr. Cheapskate won all his games, except for the one against the person whom Tamaleh beat, where he offered an early draw so neither of them would have to lose, just in case he lost. I don't think he would have, though. Someone who dedicates his time to reading inch-thick books about just a single chess variation and all the consequences of the move has poured too much time and energy into the game to lose.
So, after chess, we went to Mcdonald's for a late breakfast. Breakfast time was over, but fortunately Mc's still had Hotcakes and Sausage McMuffins so I got one of each. And *someone* had the bright idea to shift our bags to another table with more seats. I was horrified to be the first one to finish buying my food, and going to the table only to discover that the friendly neighbourhood paedo was sitting beside. It was empty for a reason, you know!
Well, *he* had to atone for his crime, so we reserved the seat beside the paedo for him. Harh. Uncle 156 kept turning to look at us throughout the whole time we were there.
We later escaped to walk around the shopping centre when we were passing Golden Village, and hongkonger suddenly asked if we wanted to watch movie. Shocking. For someone who goes to KFC when the class goes Pastamania because he wants to save money. Later he admitted it was because he wanted to waste time until the Chem Olympiad lecture started.
Anyway, we went to watch The Myth. It was quite a fun show to watch. Well-choreographed fight scenes and a pretty good-looking female princess for Jackie Chan to save. Females might not like it as much though, because of all the testosterone-drenched content and the apparent helplessness of the Korean princess. She would rather continue sitting in a burning carriage about to topple off a cliff and let the fighting men rescue her, for a whole ten or so minutes, than jump right out.
So later we went home.
I'm going bouldering today with Tamaleh and someone else at ClimbAsia I think. Free indian food later. Hahahahaha. This time, I'd better order the most expensive stuff. XP
