Fragrant Frangipanis and Putrid Prose

Shared out a hundred pullups with two friends yesterday. One friend contributed four, the other about 30% and I did the rest. I think my joints are creaky. And I'm nowhere in the league of canoeists or gymnasts, but hey, who's comparing?

Parade commanding was okay, I guess. I know I sounded weird and and my legs were trembling slightly, though unnoticeably. I didn't screw up though. Satisfied with that.

The newspaper TODAY had a short article about the results of a competition for the worst writing possible in the US. It sounds fun, and I shall have a go. Let's see:

Drugs are like Pringles. Once you pop, you can't stop.

no, not convincingly disgusting. Actually, it's rather witty, if I do say so myself. How about:

Getting married is like a no-income beggar buying a new computer with all his life savings that has no warranty. He loves having it for a couple of years, until sleek, new, flashy models come out with the latest technology, and the original is obsolete. Then, he finds that he can't change the state of affairs. And when there's a hard disk failure, RAM meltdown or BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), the computer sits there but can't run, and he's stuck with it on his hands forever because no one wants to buy it from him and it's immoral to junk it. Also, it's expensive having to pay utility fees to keep it going every month.

um. Rather pathetic if I say so myself. And no, it doesn't reflect my personal views. Oh well. A sentence I found most amusing was by a Mr. Lester Guyse: The rising sun crawled over the ridge and slithered along the hot barren terrain into every nook and cranny like grease on a Denny's grill in the morning rush, but only until eleven o' clock when they switch to the lunch menu. Another literary masterpiece by Mr. Ken Acklin of Shreveport, Louisiana: India hangs like a wet washcloth from the towel rack of Asia. ....................................

There's a climbing competition coming up on 7th August. organized by ClimbAsia Climbing Centre. I signed up with Tamaleh. Should be fun, but I won't count on winning anything.

And next week we have the Sports Elective Module which I worked so hard to pass NAPFA for. I shall bring all my climbing gear and casually sling it about. Hoho. Cheap thrills.
